Calf Crag - Route One

Walking along the Easedale Road from Grasmere
Past Oak Lodge the road enters an unenclosed pasture
Tarn Crag ahead with Pike of Carrs, which is part of Calf Crag, above Far Easedale on the right

The road ends at the lane approach to Brimmer Head Farm where a signpost indicates the path to Far Easedale
Old barns passed on the walled and rough lane to Far Easedale
The path comes alongside an attractive section of Far Easedale Beck

The path continues on over the Stythwaite Steps footbridge which has replaced the old stepping stones over Easedale Beck

Several paths cross the saddle which overlooks the head of the Wythburn Valley.  The main path continues straight ahead over initially boggy ground to cross Greenup Edge bound for Borrowdale
Another path turns to the left climbing the slope to Broadstone Head
From the saddle the path to Calf Crag makes an acute right turn crossing the slope above Moor Moss
On reaching a level shoulder the summit comes into view
An undulating path, boggy in places, leads easily to the summit outcrops
